Private uploads and atomic saves for attachments

Bijection1 min read

Attachments are part of the record they belong to. Until now, a file could become visible before the record that referenced it had been saved. That gap is closed.

Private until saved

An upload is private to the person who made it while it is in progress. Once it is ready, it still belongs only to that person until an operation attaches it to a record.

One save, one commit

When you save a record with attachments, the record and its files commit together. Either both are visible or neither is, so nobody ever opens a record whose attachment is missing.

Delivery keeps context

When an attachment leaves Bijection, in an email or a connected system, it carries the context of the record it came from, so the recipient knows what it belongs to.

These changes apply to every workspace. Existing attachments are unaffected.
